Josh was introduced to the sport of Falconry at the age of 8. He was taken out hunting with a friend of his dad’s and had his first experience with hawking (i.e. flying a Peregrine Falcon to catch quail). In 2011, as the once bustling construction industry faced the peak of its decline, that same friend happened to reach out to Josh’s dad and asked if Josh was interested in pursuing a career in bird abatement. Josh, who remembered with fondness that first experience with hawking, quickly obtained his falconry license and fell in love with the sport because of the months spent working with his first bird, a red-tail hawk named Rusty. At that time, Josh was working as a Union Carpenter from 11PM to 7AM, so right after he clocked out from his shift, he would grab his Brittany Spaniel (Jolene) and bird (Rusty), to go hunting just as the rabbits were waking up. With his license and some experience now under his belt, Josh began shadowing his dad’s friend, who had a bird abatement contract at Sea World San Diego. After a couple of weeks of proving he knew how to work with the birds and knew how to talk with guests with professionalism and politeness, Josh was soon invited to join that team full-time. He left construction behind and pursued a career in bird abatement. After working for that friend for three years, Josh decided he wanted to begin his own company and created Steadfast Falconry. Since then, Josh has worked with a multitude of different bird species – from Harris’ Hawks to Peregrine Falcons – to rid his customers properties of pest birds, no matter how challenging of a project it may be. Although quiet, he will answer any questions you may have about birds, his dogs and his business (and will tell you dad jokes until you decide you can’t take it anymore and walk away).  Josh takes pride in his company and embodies the company’s mission statement with his unwavering work ethic and commitment to his customers.
